Kingfisher Interpretive Centre

The Kingfisher Interpretive Centre Society (KICS) is a not-for profit, volunteer driven community-based salmon hatchery and environmental education centre. KICS was established over three decades ago in response to the near extinction of salmon stocks in the Shuswap River.
We are a watershed enhancement organization dedicated to interactive, hands-on ecological education, featuring salmon and watershed restoration.
Guided by a mission to reunite people with the natural world, we welcome thousands of visitors annually to engage in outdoor discovery in our 10-acre “living classroom”. Set along the banks of the pristine Shuswap River near Enderby, British Columbia, amidst the lush Interior Rainforest, we are one of few places in BC that engages participants with a first-hand experience of salmon in their habitat. The site offers an abundance of information, sights, smells, and sounds.

The Kingfisher Interpretive Centre Society is contracted through Fisheries and Oceans Canada to facilitate the Stream to Sea Program in BC School Districts 19 (Revelstoke), 22 (Vernon) and 83 (North Okanagan/Shuswap). Celebrate Water- Water is Life
Thursday 26th of March
10 am-2 pm
Spend part of your spring break with us at the Kingfisher Interpretive Centre celebrating water.
Secwepemc knowledge keeper, Laureen Felix, will share songs, drumming, and stories. There will be educational booths, fun hands-on activities, music, and food.
Free. No need for registration. Fun for all ages.
Please bring your own reusable water bottle and a cup for your complimentary hot chocolate or tea. Please note that we are a pack-in/pack-out facility. We do not have garbage pick-up on site and we ask that all our guests take their garbage home with them.
