We would like to acknowledge that the space(s) in which we reside today are located on unceded indigenous land, where First Nations communities have long been recognized as the custodians of the lands and waters on which we gather.
Today, these lands are home to a diverse population of Indigenous and other peoples, and it is important for each and every one of us to realize our roles in the colonial project. We recognize that we need to show our support and solidarity with indigenous peoples in defence of their lives, their lands, and their struggles to live in dignity and in justice.
So let us feel today in resistance to systemic oppression. let us understand, let us be stronger, more whole, taller. and when we doubt our capabilities, only hold each others’ hands tighter.
We belong to this earth, we belong to each other, and we must fight for each other.
